Let me say up-front that I don't know this particular dragon fly/insect, so I cannot relate to its actual colouring..... but for me, the image appears to be rather light, almost over-exposed. I see you shot at f7.1 as opposed to the f2.8 capability of your lens, which could also be its "sweet spot".

Having said all that, I do like this image. It's simple, uncluttered and the strong DoF isolates the subject matter well. Maybe a f2.8 setting would have increased the definition, just a little.

Shooting macro at f/2.8 leaves you with almost nothing in focus.... Also, f/7.1 is the effective aperture not the camera setting...

Lovely image, I think the appeture is spot on here. Even at 7.1 there is little to play with. It also looks pretty sharp to me too. Top job
