This is a descent size gecko. Geckos are popular in south East Asia; they are hunted for a living for some says they have the enzyme that can cure AIDS. A good capture but you should have work more on the detail it’s a little off and also this lack of focus, try focusing on the eyes next time. The lighting is good very well done. Thank you for posting

Carol A – Thank you for commenting. Geckos live also in Europe around the Mediterranean, in the wild. This one is most likely the common Hemidactylus turcicus. In East Asia/Asia there are not many animals/insects that are not offered for some cure. However, there is no scientific evidence that Geckos (or - any other animal for that matter) would have any enzyme to cure AIDS, that is ignorance. Such nonsense increases only killing and smuggling of these lizards - some of which are endangered. http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/11/21/nation/9943851&sec=nation

Geckos have also very good eyesight and hearing, and I was fairly happy to get even this close (4 m) of a wild gecko and get a photo with the eye where the iris can be seen. But you are right - crystal clear eyes and a photo taken from aside reveals the beauty of this lizard much better. Hope this guy turns out for real pose:) Take care
