I was driving through the South of France recently and come across many small villages that looked similar to this shot, I didn't get any shots half as good though, this is a really excellent B & W, full of mood and character.

I like the sense of depth and it has a lovely tonal range. In fact, it is going from dark to light with a  pregnant expectation of what is around the corner.

Excellent; remnds me of a scene from a dramatic old French movie.
