Hey Tm, sure is getting a bunch of good ratings. his was definetely shot at the best of this lenses capability. Not bad for being wide open. A lot of detail. The larger you make it the better. Nice one.

Thanks Kenneth! PS sharpening helps some, this 100-400mm is a far cry from your 400mm. From what I understand from reading review, the 400mm F5.6 is extremely sharp and price/focal lenth is wonderful. I generally don't shoot wide open at f5.6 with this lens but would rather closed-down to f6.3 . The problem is that you get more definition and rotten bokeh. This lens' bokeh is  very funky!

Yup. I should know, I had one for years. It built most of my portfolio, but couldn't quite get me that pro look. I kept seeing Jodi Mellanson's work with the 400mm L fixed and it was insane. I did a review on this site of the 400mm fixed. The only thing I was worried about was not having IS, but once I got used to using a monopod, I'd never go back. I just ordered a 70-200mm F4 IS prime as well. That lens is razor sharp as well. Can wait to use it in the swamp when I go back after the gators!
