ronnie gaubert 0 Posted June 26, 2003 Twenty years ago this was a healthy brackish water marsh. Because of erosion and frequent hurricanes salt water intrusion has occured. These trees that were once numerous in the open marsh has all but disappeared. This condition has occurred throughout the South Louisiana coast with thousands of acres of land loss a year. Efforts have been made to reintroduce Mississippi River water back to these marshes, but cost hundreds of millions of dollars and may not be enough. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted June 26, 2003 Ronnie, One species of vegetation may be dying but I see another has taken its place. I guess nature is like that. Fine composition made possible by the long lens. The bird on the limb is a nice touch. Was it a bit of serendipity? Best, LM. Link to comment
bobar57 0 Posted July 13, 2003 Good composition, balance, contrast, color tonalities and graduations in the marsh. The contrast of the mountains in the foggy horizon against the dark dead trees and the line of the water is like a touch in a zen garden, but instead of sand or pebbles is a beautiful colorful marsh.
