Thanks for viewing/comments! It's a no sunshine morning and that helps

with controlling the white but a bit of sunlight would have done wonder to

show the eye some more ...

All I can say, is I saw a skimmer scrolling through the critiques under birds and said, that has to be Tm. LOL! Low and behold. Well, this is really nice. So calm for an action shot. I know you wish he was another foot away or so to get the whole reflection, but this is sweet none the less. Well done.

TM,

Amazing shot! What I really like is the rooster tail that you can so clearly see from his beak cutting through the water. The beak and beak reflection and the rooster tail and reflection are perfect. Such glassy water. Congratulations!

Thank you Folks! I am relatively please with this and I wish I had more light so that I can cut the ISO down for better quality (ISO 1250 on this one).

Geez. Now I'm mad! ISO 1200?! Wow, that is awesome. Thi looks fantastic at THAT ISO. But then, it is a fantastic body. My 50D couldnt hold a flame to that noise at that level. Nice!

LOL! Depending on the subject (and selective noise reduction usage) the 1D III can get away with up to ISO 1250, sometimes a bit higher (like 2000). But, generally I don't want to shoot over ISO 640. I know the dilema of noise since I used to shoot with an Olympus E-410 (10 mp on a 1/2 frame sensor make even more noise than 1.5 or 1.6 cropped sensor). If you look at my old shot you can see that I have some decent Skimmer shots with the Oly'  + the cheapy 70-300mm Zuiko (= 600mm since it's 1/2 frame sensor) but I did have good light for those shot. To me, the 7D is a great camera but sort of noisy (to me). Keep that in mind and check if you ever look that way. I paid 2K for this used 1D III, btw. Very happy with it!

Thanks Tm. Yeah, I just upgraded to the 50D a little while ago. I just love shooting with the crop sensor for the extra mm's, but if I could shoot at 1200iso and end up with that good of noise levels, man that's tough.
