Pekka,

Good details and DOF!

The color of the Bird goes well with the colors in the foreground and background!

For me, I see some over-exposure here that tends to wash out the colour and definition.

In my rendition, I have possibly "over-exaggerated" the darkening a little, just to show the potential in the image in terms of colour and clarity.

Hope this helps.

Your photo works for me. The bird is the centre piece of the photo and the colours compliment the colour on the birds wings, just like how you frame either a picture or photo you choose a matt board that will highlight the main object, in this case the bird.

The other photo is too sharpened and distracts from the bird and the water is over detailed where it should just blend and not take away from the baby seagull. The bird is the main focus here and too much sharpening makes it look fake and isn't kind on the eyes as a photo should be.

Your photo here depicts the baby seagull perfectly and that the post processing is perfect.

You have a very fine style and your photos have a natural look that bespeaks the deft hand of a true artist. Let us see more of your work please

regards

Ann

Hi....... if you had read my comment, you would have seen that I "over accentuated" the sharpening to illustrate all the colours that were available in this image. It is over-exposed, no question, and a lot of the outline of the bird is lost in the bland background. If this had been my image, I would have removed most of the annoying sun speckles from the water, which are a distraction in  both Pekka's and my images.

PN is primarily a learning site. I learn from those who are better than me, and I in turn endeavour to give others the benefit of my 30 years experience.

For me, Wildlife photography is to give the viewers an image of what I saw and as I wear spectacles that give me 20/20 vision, I don't see blurred/fuzzy images and therefore don't have any to post here on PN.

The calibration of my monitor is pretty nigh "spot on", unfortunately that cannot be said for most.

Pekka....... my original comment and posting was to give you "food for thought"........ nothing more.

Regards to you both
