Very interesting and unique photo.  The Orb actually looks like something out of Science Fiction and I like Sci-Fi.  Colors and "shimmer" add a lot to the mysterious quality.

I agree that this could be from another place (far, far away)

It is an entirely beautiful abstraction - I want to find meaning in the shadows (and I like that quite a bit)

Linda, thank you...and I'm glad you enjoyed the photo. I'm a lover of sci-fi as well, though I must admit that I don't read sci-fi writings nearly as much as I did when I was younger. When I was twelve or so, I was in a sci-fi book club. So we're talking around 1966 or so when I first began to read most of the works of "the greats".  I indeed wanted this photo to have a mysterious edge to it. I'm waiting for someone to ask, what is it? I don't plan on telling. Where would the mystery be in that?  ;)  Good to hear from you...and please visit again soon.

Regards, John

thank you so much, Michael!  yes...the shadows hold as much mystery as the orb itself. i'm glad you want to know more...  that means to me that the photo is a success.

Very creative. This has the feeling of something from a fantasy/sci-fi world, mysterious yet with a sense of a particular place and time. You've achieved this effect in several of your other pictures also, one of which is in my favorites.
