I am determined to better use my Macro Lens, and while taking

some photos of some very small flowers, I saw this ant crawling

inbetween the leaves. I had a bit of trouble hand holding the camera

as the ground was very soft due to quite a bit of rain on Friday. I was

sinking into the 'mulch' where I was standing!!!! (thankyou for any

visit, appreciate each one, Gail)

Good Morning Gail, I frequently take walks around the neighborhood with camera in hand, because you never know what might pop up. In this case you got a nice macro shot, its amazing the fine detail you can see with these lenses. This is well composed considering the circumstances. Take care.  Best Regards,

Holger

Outstanding Gail. Very well done indeed.

At those settings this would have certainly gained entry to 'Mikes Club'!!

Best regards

Gareth.

Well I do have quite a list of 'homework' that I am working on despite his absence. I was determined to get some good shots with the lens wide open. I should send this to him to see what he thinks.

thankyou Gareth, wouldn't mind being a member of that club at all, all the best, Gail

I know I can get better detail from that lens. These ants move so quickly, and it takes me a little bit to hand hold the camera still in the soft earth. But Practice makes perfect. Glad you enjoyed this shot.

Warmest regards dear Holger! ;-) Gail

"Joe goes Forth"

Joe didn't approve of hairy plants, they tickled his feet and irritated his mandibles to an alarming extent. He tried to get out of his duties by pretending to have a broken leg, but the duty officer was having none of it and simply stated "use the other five" .......well the queen needed feeding and with 350,000 eggs due any moment Joe felt compelled to press on and find the elusive Honeydew melon that had reportedly been dropped by a careless shopper. Joe dropped the last 2 inches from the leaf and made his way across the supermarket car park his keen sense of smell driving him onwards............untill at last there it was a huge melon.......Joe had left plenty of room in his abdomen to transport the cargo.........but he was going to need help.........lots of help!  ...Tune in next week when joe defends the melon against an army of black slugs and a particularly nasty wasp by the name of Eric. : - )  sorry I couldn't resist

Great use of your macro lens Gail I really like the way you have "Joe" descending into the scene, the soft / sharp focus elements are really attractive! Very well done!

Warm Regards

Alf

It´s hard to take a macro picture by hand. And you did it great. I have 1 problem and that is the light of the leave. It is a Little bit bright. But that is the only thing i can say. The picture is great. Gr. Eugenie

I've watched your progression with the macro lens and this picture shows your growing confidence and ability. Precise dof is crucial in the macro world and here you're right on the money. The diffused background is a nice contrast to the sharpness and clarity of the leaf and ant. As a whole, the picture works very well.

Hello Grayham,

This is some of my 'Homework' from Mike. Determined to master my Maco this summer.Second  time out 'handholding' and I know it will take a bit to 'break myself  in for another season'. I find it very hard on my back, trying to stay so still while captureing this little 'critters' who rarely stay still for long.

Many thanks for those kind words, most sincerely,Gail

I am sure by next week, Joe will have a line  up of friends for you to 'organize' and continue the 'saga'. I was sure you'd write a little 'blurb' but this one was 'really good'. What an imaginaiton! You must have been a great 'story teller' when you  tucked your children in at night.

Thanks so much for your kind words and of course the 'narrative' I could not have done that well! Warmest regards, Gail

Thank you so much for the encouragement. I took a lot of photos and of course you 'weed through' so many till you find the 'good ones'. I'm sure I'll get more steady as the weeks progress, takes a bit to get in the 'swing of things' again each year. It is my favorite lens, so I do hope to finally master it this summer.

Many thanks for your visit Jack, warmest regards, Gail
