Thanks for viewing/comments! I got lucky and got the whole series

but only this one is usable since it's half bird coming in, this one and

half bird coming out ...

Tm J,

Very good action!

Yes, one needs to view it in the larger version to see the details better.  And I'm certain it was a challenge being hand held. Nice job!

Regards always,

Jim j.

Thanks Jim!

Thanks Kenneth! Nothing like .. being lucky :-) I find it very hard to shoot swallow, mostly it just does not look good.

I don't believe in luck, but I'll take a pile of whatever you had to get this... frickin' sick good.

LOL, by saying 'lucky', I don't mean one just shoot without thinking. I find that we have to be lucky to have the opportunity present itself for us to shoot. I saw the little fellow perching on the box (his house) and I was shooting him but I got lucky when a few more birds flew by and came to harrass him. He's a male (they got that irridescent blue color) and the flying bird is a female (they got less blue and more gray), hence, I think she is his mother trying to tell him to get a ....'job', make a living, ... get his own food. So, I was lucky to have this presented but of course I've been here many times and know what SS, f-stop & ISO needed and what to do. Therefore, I aim at the little fellow and hold the button when I sense something is coming in and .. voila I got lucky.  This is the kind of shot that make birdshooting so much fun to me - to capture the moment that is actually invisible to the eyes! Greetings from SoCal and happy birdshooting.

Agreed. The funny thing is the next day the exact thing happened to me on a random spot by one of the lakes I visit. I shot some of my best photos to date from truck window! I love it.
