I would like to add few points that can be useful to improve the photo if you don't mind; In the rectangular area you did shot, we see many flowers and few shades on the background, The number of flowers make the photo too busy and therefore creates lack of concentration and attention. Another point, I can add here is about the quality and the direction of light; Although the photo is made in the  late afternoon, the direction of light looks wrong to create the effect you wanted, it is homogen in the rectangle , therefore the contrast is not as good as you would like to create. Backlight or side lightning can give better results for flower photos, it also creates good depth with shades...
