on Cue

carl smith

This is also from my first roll of 400 UC. I'm amazed it came out because this is fairly close, the light wasn't bright and I was hand holding it. Just fooling around but I hoped it would work, as I may pursue something related in the future.

I think you are going....in the right direction. it is a very original shot and yet a simple idea which makes for a great shot.

Carl, this time I know what it is. I think your photo is very ästhetic and very original and I like it. Do you think I will be punished wen I rate this photo 6/6 or is it harmless to do so?

I handheld this and shot it just to see if I liked how it came out

and to see if perhaps there was something I'd like to pursue in it.

I've found out that several members here found it and liked it but

I'm seeking a broader review, even suggestions.

Any kind of constructive review is appreciated... Ratings are ok but

I would much prefer comments, and not the "great, love it" type

please.

Assuming this is a stylus on a turntable, it is a great shot that would be wellsuited for a DJ mix CD or something like that. I like the almost cross-processed look to this, with the bold orange nib contrasted with the pale sickly green background. The record looks so smooth and buttery and the selective use of DOF makes the playing groove appear to be sliced in by the stylus. Innovative shot!

Very good. It elicited a "well, crap." response in me because I was planning on doing something like this is in B&W.

I like the idea, but it doesn't work for me. The front of the stylus is right on the mid line and everything to the left is dull and unintersting except the curved lines. I can't figure out why the record isn't black and think I would prefer it darker or change the lighting somehow to give you a better stylus reflection. If you want the bright spot, I'd put it closer to the stylus.

Anything that inspires a project is good. I look forward to your next one in the series.
