Spring has finally come to Yosemite Valley. After filling up gas along I-

120 going back into Yosemite was slower as sunset was nearing and

the photographic sceneries on the right side of the road was

overwhelming that made stopping at the turnouts irresistible. The

decision to reach back to inspiration point to wait for the last glimpse of

sunset prevailed however. And here it is, setting up the NEX7 with a

24mm Leica Elmarit R didn’t take long while my eyes was focused on

the remaining light of sunset reflecting from the west towards the Three

Brothers mountain on the right. The tip of Half Dome was already

covered with the evening clouds that were also crowning a portion of El

Capitan on the left. The clouds were brought out with the use of the

Galen Rowell Reverse GND 3 stop. My inspiration for coming back to

Yosemite Valley after 30 years was finally fulfilled. Thank you for

viewing and your feedbacks are most welcome.

Abhishek, thank you for making the first comment. I used the Daryl Benson 3 stop Reverse Graduated GND that helped balanced the foreground with the bright horizon allowing more detail in the clouds. It is a neutral density filter.

Best regards!

What a wonderful trip it must have been Lester. I have only seen this park on television programs, and perhaps a few shot here on PN. It certainly is breathtaking. What a magnificent valley, and to see the waterfall from where you were - such a bonus. A fine scenic that you probably treasure for many years to come Lester.

Warmest regards, Gail

In late May or early June, one may already get up to Glacier Point as well as over to Lee Vining / Mono Lake (which is, however, a longer drive - and watch out for large puddles on the road!) - both trips are highly recommended!
