The detail is good (if a bit soft) as is the composition and lighting... but, for me, the unnatural environment hurts the photo. As such, I don't think I want to rate it... I just want to say good job because there's a lot of things right about it.

Bob, thank you very much for your critique. The eons old question, what is natural and what not, will probably never be answered for once and for all. Most spiders Ive seen in my life Ive watched indoors, apart from a few very spectacular and large ones in the African bush. This one here managed to keep itself suspended under a wooden but lacquered shelve. Apparently it is equipped for surviving in a what we could consider as an unnatural environment. Of course, optically it probably would have been more pleasing to the eye to see it hanging in a plant in bright sunshine. However, life does not always manifest itself in a pleasing (to us, naked apes) way. Thats perhaps what Ive recorded.
