Photographing in the old city of Jaffo, I fell on a wedding of people from Aritrea.. here is the bride and groom.

Thanks for viewing.

A beautiful queen and a less- glorious king.  I love your decision to include the lion to add grandeur

Jaffe is filled with interesting sites and happenstances

I hope he treats her well :)

Pnina, when you "fall" you are lucky falling on a mariage of an Eritrean couple and the peacock of long-life. Great shot, showing the reaction of each of the two to the attention they are subjected to by the photographers and on-lookers: one, she, very aware of her good look and joy, and the other, the husband, uneasy about the pose.

Ruud, Tomasz, Mehmet, and Pierre thanks for your feedback!

Donna, this lion reminded me of  "Gur Arie Yehuda" even though it is not the same country... but it was also the other side of his irate face all along the event....

Anders  thanks for your visit and  correcting my two English mistakes... "Aritrea" is how it is spelled in Hebrew and "fell" is a funny mistake as well.

Do you remember my complaint at the site help forum ( and your help) about the 10 minutes time?. I think that it is the worst decision of management in general, and especially for people that English is not an every day used language...., and yes he was irate all along the photography session....but for me as a photographer it was a great find....;-))

Thanks again.

Pnina, I did not even notice that I "corrected" anything, but I agree with you that the ten mintes rule is mistake, at least for people like us two that use our second or third language for communication.

An exotic but very human image, Pnina. I haven't been active at pn for the last couple of weeks, just wasn't very interested. I debated whether to renew my membership or not but at the last moment decided to do it, just for the convenience of storing a lot of pictures on line. But the whole place seems to have lost its vibrancy, like a once-fabulous city that has been cursed by some evil genie and falls into a deep sleep..

Anders, for your follow up, we very much agree about the  language barrier and mistakes that can not be corrected....

Jack I wrote you what I think there, so thanks again and  please just  don't disappear ! ...;-))

Fascinating image Pnina! Besides the exotic costume and henna decoration on the bride's hand you got a fantastically matching background with the sheep behind him (the innocent victim) and the lion behind her (ready to devour him). Just joking :)

Best Regards, Tibi

Human customs and traditions.... There's an aura of romance and make believe in so much of it, but the reality is often a long way from romance and traditions can be terribly oppressive. Sorry to be such a wet blanket on all the "how cute" and "aren't they a special couple" talk, (hell, it could just be a bad hair day...) but there is so much here that I find foreboding. I'll get some sleep and see if I wake up feeling the same way.

Well aside from that wet blanket talk, the image has all the detail and deft touches that are your hallmark.  That part I find good news.

Thanks both of you ,you are joking but I think that both of you have a good eye...

Tibi, I left the BG because I think that it fits the real wedding " joy" which I did not think it was /is the happy  reality...;-))

and Dave, you are right about the groom that looked  moros all along the way, and I'm not sure it was because the public around ,as they could do the photographing in a calm surrounding, and not in the main square of Jaffa!

 Good evaluation both of you!

Pnina, the heavy black velvet capes are a very interesting wedding garment, particularly by western standards. Again I enjoy the interesting details of the garments and the headdresses. I would say they both look a bit apprehensive, but he looks terrified.
