Your main center of interest seems to be green.  I cropped your image, desaturated some of the green and yellow, slightly boosted the red, and used shadow/highlights image adjustment in photoshop cs to open up some detail in the shadows.  I used curves to raise your low values in the shadows (mostly RGB= 0) to around 10.  The attention is now on your model which, for the portrait category, is where it should be.  I hope this helps.  Good luck.
