johne37179 29 Posted April 23, 2012 Have you looked at this without the sun in picture? I think that bright spot is a distraction from an otherwise classic image. The brightness tends to draw the eye away from the main subject that has so much to offer. Link to comment
jgalyon 0 Posted April 23, 2012 Jamie, Thank for offering an honest critique. We need more honesty and less mindless, reciprocal back patting. Obviously, I was satisfied enough to post it as is, but I can certainly understand the fact that you find the processing to be too heavy. Question: could you explain further what you meant by the sky being too different from the house? - John Link to comment
jgalyon 0 Posted April 23, 2012 John, In my early morning, sleep deprived state it appears I failed to notice something very obvious...so thank you for drawing my attention to the problem with the sun. I know my thinking was that being able to see the sun would make it obvious that the front of the house would naturally be dark as dusk approached. I didn't even consider the fact that it might be a distraction. I'll do another version, minus the sun, and see what it looks like. Thank you, and best regards! Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted April 24, 2012 The sky looks kind of scrubbed, like there is abrasion. The house doesn't have that, even though it is similar in colour. My eye wants them the same, otherwise it's too obvious that the sky has been doctored. best, j Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 49,933 Posted April 29, 2012 The longer I stay, the more I see in this. The left side of the house looks like a face to me. the window shades look like eye lids. Looks like three distinct personalities in this building. I probably would've drove past it without much thought. Nice work. Link to comment
