I love the impact that the colorful "slash" of image makes on this large black field.  The subject is well demonstrated, both in the playful scene (voyeuristic in catch; or were we caught in our spy?), and the clarity in their eyes. It is a beautiful and unique image; however, I am unsure how it may be marketed.  Artistically, in a book, it has great merit, however, as a parent, and as a wall print, it is mostly a large black field taking up space on my wall, with your name being the primary reason for the image being such a size.  Just my thoughts, playing "the Devil's advocate".  Have you tried the image as a vertical narrow crop?  Keep the black for the drama, but go with a 1:2 or even better, a 1:3 format.  I could see using this as a door print, or beside a door frame as an accent piece.  Once again, it is a beautiful image.  Best regards...

Thanks DL. Appreciate the feedback (this is exactly why I come to photo.net !!). I understand your concerns regarding the empty space. For a while, I too struggled with this, going back and forth cropping and resizing before cropping again, working through narrow crop 1:2 and 1:3 but I kept coming back to this format (with the empty space) as I felt it offered a more artistic and somewhat unique presentation. Your point regarding framing and use of name is also well taken however it's use is only for on line purposes and would never consider using my name for any prints. This is actually an image of my daughter and will be printing and framing without the name (although the yellow border will remain) on a very large format on an empty wall.

thanks again mate

Since you are pleasing yourself, there can be nothing better.  You have already run the gamut, and I too believe this probably the most "Artistic" approach.  It was a pleasure that you wrote something back.  Best wishes...

Teah has certainly grown Art and she is adorable with that look of 'mischief' on her face. I am sure she is a very 'busy little girl' and that being said, offers many 'photo op's' for your.

I think your choice for framing and location are perfect for this 'attention grabber'!

Warm regards,Gail

Gail, Ben, thank you very much. Teah is certainly a hand full more so for mum than for Dad but she is certainly presenting me, as a photographer, with some wonderful opportunities. Your thoughts are most welcomed and encouraging (btw, welcome back Ben)
