The caption, 'Spring Mating Privacy Is Where You Make It', is

self-explanatory for this street photo. Your ratings, critiques and

observations are invited and most welcome. If you rate harshly, very

critically or wish to make an observation, please submit a helpful and

constructive comment; please share your photographic knowledge to help

improve my photography. Thanks! Enjoy! john

Not really.

It was forecast.

It had rained little fairy droplets.

It threatened to rain some more.

But none at this instance, more than a fairy droplet or two (see pavement), and that was abating.

Umbrellas have more than one purpose.

This is my tongue-in-cheek spring lightness.

Good capture! This guy with the ice cream has a sort of tell tale sly look/grin on his face and I suspect it is not from the taste of the cone. The man on the end of the far bench is having a serious look at what is going on behind the sunbrella and the girl under the dark sunbrella at the other end of the bench is wondering why this is not happening to her!Bravo for another excellent image my friend.

Salutations-Laurent

You showed exceptional skills in developing a narrative for this capture, and also exceptional eyesight, going far beyond what I saw when I examined the capture, but you are correct.

This showcase park aside Kyiv's showcase boulevard is traditionally in Spring occupied by girls sitting on boys' laps, often necking, but this is the first time I've ever seen anyone try to create privacy, let alone with a large umbrella.

And the umbrella adds a huge geometric element that is most propicious, which is great from a photographer's standpoint for composition.

You are to be congratulated on writing a skilled critique, one of the best, (and they needn't be complimentary to be good, either.).

You are right.

I've been photographing this boulevard in Spring for years now.

This is a first, though boys often have girls sit on their laps, legs wrapped around each other, often necking of kissing in broad daylight.

Ah, to be young again.

And to be in Kyiv with its beautiful and willing women.

Because when I grew up, people did know how to kiss (because they weren't allowed to do more, on pain of school expulsion and the girl's being 'sent away' if found pregnant and even having her baby 'taken away' if she gave birth -- without her consent usually.)

Kyiv has a fine way of life to my way of thinking, and I enjoy chronicalling it.  The young women with their affections keep the young men FAR from trouble, too.  No young man gets into a fight, or causes trouble, lest his girl beckon and all else ceases.

These women are smart.

And both genders seem to have smiles on their faces: Win-win.

It's a lesson from 'Lysistrata' in a modern setting.

And you are right, it's a unique photo.

Hello John, I like the entire scene. Since Laurent has taken all my initial observations and accurately I might add, I'll have to bow to him and say well seen. This is certainly a hot spot of interesting activity, like any big city. I keep coming back to the fella sitting on the bench in front. He really is trying not to stare and concentrate on that cone, but we know what he's thinking.....Nice capture.............Holger

Like I said above.

Every once in a while . . . .

You just keep shooting, and every once in while 'magic' and, even if, as in this case, the taking may almost have been an afterthought after seeing so many couples intertwined on benches that at the time this one didn't seem SOO different.

However, on first review, WOW!

It really doesn't matter if it's an afterthought or carefully planned and examined before taking so long as it's immortalized properly.

Just look at the guy's feet; they're completely ignored by him, he's so enraptured, with his knees pointed to his true interest.

Thanks for the kind remarks and also for treating a previous commenter with such grace.
