This area is north of Cleveland and west of Woodleaf, North Carolina, on a high, broad ridge between the Third Creek and Fourth Creek watersheds before those creeks join and run into the South Yadkin River south of Mocksville.

I "discovered" this area a bit over a month ago, even though this picture was made only about fourteen miles from my house in Salisbury, North Carolina.  Since then I have gotten out there at least once a week, and almost all of the pictures to date in this folder were made within a three-mile radius of this spot on Foster Rd.  In the distance one can see Hobson Rd., which heads east back toward Woodleaf.  (It was from Hobson Rd. that I shot the storm photos which also appear in this folder.)

The lens-camera combo used in many of these shots cost about $750 on eBay.

In spite of the marvelous expanse and view in all directions from this spot, what I like the most is typically on the ground right in front of me--as in this photo when viewed large.

The ground and its vegetation can be seen even better on this shot:

You could snag a Contax G1 with a 28/2.8 for about $500.  Some of the best stuff ever made.

This picture has texture at the bottom and works a lot better for me.  Six.  best, j
