Path to the Flames

This little sand path/dune is located about 1.5 miles south in the next coulee (Echo Basin) from Frenchman Coulee, where my previous post "Feather Light" was taken.

Rising at 3AM in order to have enough time to drive there, park and hike across the desert to the sand turned out to be a bit of an epic. I had to make urgent pit stops at rest areas, the side of the road, and a few sagebrush, on the way to the sand. When I got there I was so cold and depleted I took only 34 exposures then wobbled back to my truck, making a few more deposits along the way. That the exposures for this post have come out as well as they did is amazing; I scarcely recall taking them. All's well that ends well - my wife got hit at the same time and we were both back to normal in 24 hours. Must have been food poisoning.
