Hi Bill,

I really enjoy looking at your work.  This cardinal is a great capture: sharp, great background, good head angle, and a catchlight in the eye makes him look alive.

To my eye, the subject looks a bit over-saturated and thus looks unnaturally red, although it could just be the high-contrast light in which you took the photo.  If you didn't raise the saturation or vibrancy levels in post, I would suggest a tad of desaturation to see how that looks.  Thanks for sharing.

Best regards, Dennis

Great sharpness and color contrast Bill! Fred has chosen the perfect background to make his redness stand out even more. The only possible improvement I could possibly think of is that (on my monitor at least) the white balance looks a tiny bit off towards yellow tones so tweaking it to a slightly cooler setting might deepen Fred's reds even more.

By the way, what the heck does "+14316557650/6" mean for bias value (from your details page)?  I haven't seen that before.  I'm sure it must be obvious, but I haven't a clue.  Thanks!

This was one of my Mother's favorite birds Bill. And whenever I visited, she would always identify one if if was singing. Often times we would even find them. I live in the same city, and unfortunately I do not find many birds around our home. Our back deck is very high, few trees in the backyard (have planted a few) but the main tree is one of the tallest remaining old Elm trees in Town.

It houses many black birds and crows. And often birds that are migrating stop there for a rest. Other than that, the lack of trees for protection is not a plus. I will have to go out into the woods in order to find any beautiful birds.

Your bird captures are always a treat to view, and this 'vibrant' young man is no exception. Wonderful capture with great detail. He is well suited to the greenery in the background.

Keep them coming Bill, I'm sure I'm not the only fan of yours!

Fond regards, Gail
