I find a certain beauty in old rusty things.

LOL... Then you'll love meeting us!

I've often said that I want to travel the backroads of the US and take photos of just old houses and barns.  It's still on the bucket list but we're always distracted by other things as well.  This is well done and also captures the surrounding old trees that were most likely planted by the original owner...  Mike

Bill, thanks for the 'thumbs up'.....good to hear from you!

Joao, always nice to hear from a new photographer.  I'm looking forward to spending some time visiting your portfolio.....from my cursory look, it seems you're well traveled and have some great shots of Portugal in particular.  We've been to Spain several times, but the next time we go, we have to visit Portugal as well.

Mike, speaking of 'rusty'.....that would be me at the moment.  I had my first ever auto accident last Friday, and though I'll live I'm pretty badly beaten up.  Long story......don't know how much hiking I'll be doing in the Smokies....drat!!!!  But even if we don't do much hiking, it will be a fantastic place to relax!  Thanks for your comment!

Hi Christal,

By chance, I'm looking this on my laptop, which cropped the bottom off the image. I'm thinking it might be stronger with this crop. I fiddled this example in Lightroom as a suggestion. Rusty stuff's one of my favorites, as well. Cheers, Steve

Hey, I like it....much better!  Thanks for taking the time!  It brings more to the forefront the rusty building, and it also places it slightly off center.....overall a much stronger composition.  Thanks!  By the way, I hadn't looked at your portfolio in a while.  As you probably noticed I just commented on a couple of your shots......it seems to me your photographic skills have really improved.  :-)

Nicely photographed scene. That rusty old house certainly speaks well of times past, antiquity some would call it. Best regards.

Based on Steve's suggestion, I cropped this.  In the end I left a bit more on the bottom than Steve suggested so it didn't encroach on the left tree trunk too much.....also to leave the ratio the same size.  But thanks to him I think it improved this image.  I'm not sure when it will switch over.

Yes, antiquity.  :-)  I always am intrigued by these old places.  If walls could talk, it would be interesting to know the stories behind the these places.  Thanks for stopping by.....good to hear from you!

I replaced my original image with the above image. I cropped it, but I also tried to make the colors a little bolder and brighter....to be more true to the way they really looked.  When I edited it in Adobe Elements 10, it looks brighter.  When I loaded it on to PN, the colors became dull and look much browner than in the editing program.  I've never had that happen before.  Am I doing something wrong, or has something changed with PN?  Can someone help me?  This image doesn't look anything like the image I edited in Elements 10.  Thanks!

Disregard my previous comment.  I know it takes a while for an image to be replaced, so I'm not sure what happened.  But now it looks okay.....or at least it looks true to what I saw.  Thanks!

Hi Back, Cristal

Thanks for the nice compliment on my newer stuff. It's interesting: I don't think I'm doing anything different, but the pix seem to get better. Happy Spring. Steve

Thanks for your visit.....and for your concern.  I was scraped up pretty badly and had to miss a couple of weeks of work, but nothing was broken and I'll heal.....thank God.  It was my first ever auto accident.....and hopefully my last!  Good to hear from you!
