camilla_cherry 0 Posted June 11, 2003 This is a very good picture of Gamla Stan! It is a lovely place, and you have really captured the right feeling! Regards Camilla (who was a bit younger on Allans image...) Link to comment
allan wallberg 0 Posted June 11, 2003 Very nice!!! you have captured this alley inThe Old town very well, and the man who walks with his bicycle, is that extra, witch makes this picture really nice, I like the light, the color and the good composition. my heart feels a bit extra for Stockholm because i am born and I growe up there, and for me it´s a very beautiful town, especially in the summertime, very well done Audrey! audrey lee reid 0 Posted June 12, 2003 Thank you for your nice comments. I visited your country for just 4 days,(1 day in Stockholm, 3 days in the countryside). I knew nothing aobut your country before going, but fell in love with it after seeing it. I took lots of photos, some of which I will continue to upload here in the days to come. I shall be most interested to learn your thoughts on seeing your country through my eyes - so to speak. Camill, there are 2 photos on this site that will probably stay with me always, one was a little smiling black baby boy with HUGE eyes, the other is of the younger YOU. To me, that photo of you represents every parents' dream little girl. Life is full of surprises, first, Allan surprised me that you have grown up! Now, you surprise me in that you are a talented photographer in your own right! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 12, 2003 I couldn't agree with Allan's comments more. Without the man, this is a nice, but highly boring photo of a cobblestone street. The man and his bike really add a nice element of interest which makes the setting come alive. A truly nice image. My only quibble, purely in the interest of cultivating your already established skill, is the patch of sky above. Can you tell me if a polarizing attachment exists for your camera? If so, get it! A polarizing filter would beef up the color, particularly in the sky. It really helps to avoid that washed out look you get in the sky at certain times of the day. The sky by no means wrecks the image. My suggestion is only food for thought on the road to finding that Audrey Reid masterpiece, which I'm sure is getting to ready to surface! Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted June 12, 2003 Now you tell me... I always wondered why Andy didn't comment on my *brilliant* (NOT) image of Gamla Stan . But now I know and understand that your version of this wonderful part of Stockholm is so much better, it contains the 'human' element... I'm not to keen on 'humans', they worry me - in general - therefore you won't find many people shots in my portfolio. Seriously though, your exposure of this scene is great and has my full marks! audrey lee reid 0 Posted June 12, 2003 Andy, I'm glad you are starting to be 'less gentle', its the only way I'll learn. Since Sweden, I have bought a ploarizing and a grad ND filter. Hopefully you'll see my skies improve. Peter, I just visited your Gamla Stan, eventhough we share the same 'sky' problems, your composition leads the eye for miles. Link to comment
allan wallberg 0 Posted June 12, 2003 Hi again Audrey! the sky is ok for me, the contrast betwen the alley and the sky are very large, It"s not easy to catch it... I am locking forward to se your comming pictures from your 4 days visit in Sweden too. best regards/Allan. Link to comment
mmmee 0 Posted June 16, 2003 This is a classic street scene. Again, the terrific, clear colors. Very nice composition. Those buildings look sooo tall. This is shot from a very good angle. Link to comment
audrey lee reid 0 Posted July 1, 2003 Allan, Margaret and Anuj for your encouragements. Link to comment
matt_l.1 0 Posted July 4, 2003 Something is not quite right with the tops of the buildings, but i cannot put my finger on it. Perhaps a bit of burning is needed? I cannot say, sorry, but the look now just bugs me a bit. Link to comment
