Hi Sam,

Nice work with the fast little 4mm lens.

I have no fear of spiders, but the term"jumping" reminds me of the time that one did jump on me when I approached him to take an image. I need to find the image, because it was of the roof top of my house, since my reaction was to move back, and I pushed the trigger on the camera as my arm went upward.

He went on his own way, and I decided that I had enough for one day of surprises.

Best Regards,  Mike

Yes Mike,

it's astonishing how optically good the better point-&-shoot cameras are for macro work.

The other benefit is their far greater manoeuvrability to shoot tiny critters in their often fairly inaccessible hideouts.

Your adventures with wildlife are always amusing me. Keep on telling stories!

cheers

Sam

seems like there some optical issues with this shot...it appears to be soft, or lack detail....there seems to be little in the way of sharpness...was that intentional?

Hi Ellery,

no, the optical issues are not intentional - they just happen in this kind of macro shot with a point-and-shoot camera, when the critter is sitting in a difficult to approach place.

Main thing is, the eye is sharp & looks ferociously at the photographer;-)

Thanks very much for your critique & suggestions.

cheers

Sam
