Caledonia 0 Posted March 30, 2012 One of my favourite spots again, thought it would look good converted to monochrome in Nik silver efex pro. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted March 31, 2012 It's a wonderful composition -- so many diverse elements together in a single frame. The detail you've captured is striking, and I'm wondering if you blended two photos with different points of focus. I also wonder if slightly whiter/brighter water in the foreground would be appropriate or if it could be achieved in a natural way without becoming "unbalanced." Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 286 Posted March 31, 2012 Good, would look good?! No, it doesn't look good, it looks divine! I don't know what makes that, ND, CPL, Nik silver efex pro...?! I only know I haven't so far seen such a good picture! Seven all the way, of course!Best regards Douglas!PDE Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted March 31, 2012 Douglas, I could look at this for a long time. It is excellent. I love the textures of the rock, with their clear and crisp detail against the softness of the water, which pulls my eye back into the rest of the scene. Was this photo-stitched? If so, you did an excellent job.Best wishes,Linda Link to comment
krpradu 125 Posted March 31, 2012 If it is from two images or not this is an excellent work you did here,I saw this location from other your photos and this one I think is the best, nice details and water effect is great, compliments. Link to comment

Caledonia 0 Posted March 31, 2012 Thank you all for your very kind and informative critiques,I should have mentioned the image is a blend of 2 exposures, one for the foreground and one for the sky. It is a single image cropped to square.ThanksDouglas Link to comment
stp 6 Posted March 31, 2012 Douglas, when you did the two exposures, did you also do two different points of focus (one for the foreground, the other for the distant mountain)? Link to comment
Caledonia 0 Posted March 31, 2012 Hi Stephen, Both images were taken with the same point of focus, about a third of the way into the shot, the lens was @ 16mm and f16. Thanks again Link to comment

john_crane 0 Posted August 19, 2013 Tone, mood, composition....as with Ansel Adams or Muench I would think that 'depth of field' is what pulls them all together for me personally. Thank you Doug. Link to comment
