in this one the fly is the most crisp... the petals look strange to me - but what do i know about flowers!

I think that the strange aspect of the petals is due to the shallow focusing in fornt of the focusing plane where there is the fly.

Successful, which doesn't happen to me, I was just shooting some bug on my kitchen table and nothing although it stood still on a flat surface!

yeah, what a cool shot...that fly was caught in great sharpness!  I had the same slight annoyance with the appearance of the shallow DOF in front of the fly...somehow it distracts me a bit...still an awesome shot though...perhaps a crop would improve?  I cropped it down to focus on the fly and sharpened up a bit when I cropped...I think I like the original better though...not sure though
