robertbrown 1 Posted June 8, 2003 Comments, suggestions, ratings appreciated on this cross-processed cross. I liked the color shift (slide film processed in c-41 chemistry), which I enhanced some in Photoshop. Thanks. Link to comment
fabiangraham 0 Posted June 8, 2003 Great photo. The color works very well. Did you intend it to be this grainy? The grain makes it look very artistic. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted June 8, 2003 The graininess is sometimes a product of the cross-processing. Forgot to mention, this film is also about 2 years out-of-date. Bought a 20-pack for 15 bucks on *bay to experiment with! Link to comment
nomade 1 Posted June 9, 2003 I like this, and I like your cross-processing experiments. Maybe some day I'll try them too... For this shot, if the cross is your subject, it has to be *sharp*, that's not happening here, apparently as a consequence of some kind of blurring process. Link to comment
richard blount 0 Posted June 9, 2003 It never occured to me to develop transparency film in C-41, it has worked and worked well. The feeling of light that this image generates for me is wonderful, it is so apt for the subject, a cross. Perfect attention to detail, well done. Link to comment
roberto4 0 Posted June 9, 2003 good crossing effect! just like made by software. ( for my pedantic eye rotate it please 1 degree right :-)Best robertO Link to comment
seven 0 Posted June 9, 2003 You've obtained a fine satinlike red in the steeple - bold yet smooth. I like the tones, especially the brightest spot just left of the cross. Would prefer the rotation mentioned and a bit less grain. Link to comment
andrea_garza 0 Posted July 1, 2003 Great effect, almost painterly like. The tones are great, very striking image. Nice job. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted January 6, 2004 This is very striking and really stands out in the thumbnails. The red is sumptuous and the colours complementary. I quite like the unsharp cross. It seems a bit allegorical in reference to the decline of religious focus in today's world. I don't think the rotation would improve it as the tilt seems to be vertical rather than horizontal. My only nit is that I would like the image to be a touch higher in the frame, but it's not a big issue. I still really like it as is. Link to comment
dutta 0 Posted October 18, 2004 the glow at the back of the cross adds a feeling of "halo" to the entire picture and makes it spiritual... serves the purpose of this pic. i also notice a light on the front on the red tile of the church... its as if the heavens have opened to bestow light on the church. the graininess gives a feeling of cloudiness to the entire frame... and the general of light in spite of the cloudiness gives this a distinct meaning. fantastic work!
