Hi Katerina.  I love the classic lighting in this portrait, as well as the composition.   The background colour works very well with the colour of the outfit the model is wearing, and helps provide emphasis on the model's face and hands.  The stoic look of the model, for me, helps reinforce the religious flavour of the shot as you suggested in the title.  Very nicely done!

I have been past this image a number of times without commenting, only because I couldn't find the adjectives to describe it.

I will try now ... wonderful, strong, well composed with lovely detail and colour.

It is a classic but contemporary portrait. The light, the colours and the manner convey not a really pure pathos but weakness and a sort of female misery. There is certain elegance in her pose that is derived by the manner of her hands and drapery.
