Hi Sam,

Such a nice scene.

So peaceful, and the added presence of this fine bird provides a fine scene.

Nice shot my friend.

Best Regards,  Mike

Hi Mike,

and then to know that, in the spur of a moment,  I shot this from a moving vehicle .... I wasn't cautiously creeping on my belly, one with nature and all that. High tech on the move!

OK, my friend, I'm not telling you something new. Thanks very much for your appreciation!

cheers

Sam

I like that you got the heron really sharp, the the thin white feathers show good detail. I would have liked to see a larger version, it would show more detail. Seeing that this was a spur of the moment type shot, it's excellent. But if you could have taken this with a larger aperture and/or from farther away the background could have been put more out of focus. As it is, it's slightly distracting from the subject. None the less great capture.

Hi Siegfried,

thanks very much for your critique, comments, advice and appreciation.

I know what you mean. However, being 'on the run' so to speak & having to quickly shoot a bird that unexpectedly presents itself, I tend to use my camera at settings which most of the time deliver reasonable images.

The disturbing effect of a too well visible background perhaps might be seen as nature's trick to make the bird less well visible to predators. But that is too much human thinking going into the basically unknown field of how predators see their prey.

Cheers

Sam
