Swamplands near New Orleans. I believe their long tails make good eating...

its reciprocal, they wouldn't mind a chunk off a juicy human thigh...

Colour vs B&W.  Same photo, different moods.  I like them both but love the tones and contrast in this B&W version.  The textures of the gators seem clearer to me in the B&W version but the colour version, overall, appears to be more what I'd expect to see on site.  Something here for everyone.  Very well done.  Another crop that works for me is to crop out about half the area between the gators and the top of the frame.  Places more emphasis on the animals but then you lose some of the context.  Tough call.  Best, LM.

I, too, prefer the b/w version.  I think it captures more of the ominous atmosphere that surronds these reptiles.  The cypress knee is a swamp icon and I'm glad you included it.  Did you try the alligator tail?  If not, just think of chewing a chunk of tough chicken and you'll get the same taste ;-)...  Mike

I much prefer the b&w version. The lighting and detail here is extraordinary. I also agree with Len about cropping the top section down a centimeter or two.

The definition and detail are definately more pronounced in the B & W version. You have captured them in an excellent relaxed looking situation, and one would almost believe they are smiling. Very well done!

Best Regards

B/w for me, because the only thing you see is the content, without the colors the photograph appears as a stark image - nothing distracts from the situation within. Compliments
