w-j-li 0 Posted March 24, 2012 Creative, beautiful with the diagonal lines. Congrats. Best Regards, Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted March 24, 2012 Wanghan - thanks for your kind words which are appreciated. This was taken on Deck 9 of a cruise boat early in the morning after some rain. Some strong wind and a rocking boat does not make it easy to get a shot like this sharp. I guess I got lucky! Link to comment
dom1 1 Posted March 24, 2012 With all those great photos I think this reflects your instinct rather than luck. Strong composition! Link to comment
tore 10 Posted March 24, 2012 Great composition and I like the narrow colour scheme and the light in the end of the shoot that support the depth and make it even greater.Best regards Tore Link to comment

WJBrowning 0 Posted March 25, 2012 Tony, really well seen and a very original composition, with the slanting boarder. I really like the light on the wet deck and the figure at the top of the apex of the frame. V brave and very successful. Well done and best wishes William Link to comment
dave_dise1 0 Posted March 25, 2012 Tony - a striking shot. The unusual bordering first cought my eye and made me look further. Then the rich colors in the deck commanded my attention. Then as I followed the wood planks, I saw the man walking. You eliminated all that was not needed like extra railing, sea, and walls - well done. Very creative!! Best Regards - Dave Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted March 26, 2012 Dominick: thanks for the vote of confidence.Jamie - glad you found it to be superb.Patsy - glad you liked it because when you try something different it can be a big flop in aesthetics.William and Dave - I appreciate the details in your critique. Background: I was on a Carnival (same company that owns Costa) Miracle Caribbean cruise boat and to counteract all that availability of good food, I used to get up before sunrise and pound this deck for at least twenty minutes keeping an eye on the sky. It rained for a few minutes and then the skies started to clear. There were only about three hardy people out there at that time of the morning. I crouched and got everything set on the camera and I knew someone would be coming around the bend and waited patiently for that to happen. The rest is history.Best wishes to everyone. Pierre Dumas 266 Posted March 26, 2012 I wonder how you got the idea of such framing! I tried to remove it and saw that it doesn't go! Or maybe it does?!Best regards Tony!PDE Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted March 26, 2012 Pierre - thanks for taking the time to making the adjustment. Always appreciated. For me photography is mostly a passion (almost an addiction) currently unencumbered by commercial thoughts even though a few of my photographs have been sold. I suppose in the end it will be a buyer who will decided on the format. I do appreciate your input. PS I am not sure if I wanted to post another ship deck photo but here is another one that has a bit less drama than this one. Link to comment
