The staircase leads to the view of the woman and forms together with the black person a triangle : very graphic, reduced, with a deep perspective. A excellentes black white image!....tamarah

Andrea, Of course I right away remembered your other picture (although I note that I never commented on that one.. I saw that it attracted many interesting comments - can't really add much..) Don't want to compare one to the other, although that seems almost impossible..... :-)  Here, I like the way you allowed more space at the top part of this frame, and I also like the perfectly timed  (triangular) placement of the lady in the photo. It has another 'vibe' altogether (& of course= sans couleur). The B&W works well here, as there are enough textures and contrasts to set it all off. This is analogue, I gather... Did you take it at a much later time ..? Hope all is going well for you. Gr, M

thanks again, my friends, is very usefull to read your opinions. thanks.. mar, yes, is not recent. i was wrong writing F5, is D200 or D2x. Digital, anyway, as is easy to see. this photo is one of the reasons of my "analogic period"

This is your style I like a lot. Your "classical" and impressive as usual. I like the high key type contrast, it makes the image very interesting and artistic. Lovely composed too.

Are you saying you are disappointed that it doesn't work on more than a graphic level?

This is a strong graphic rendering and that has its own sort of appeal photographically. You took some chances with the approach so I would say it does have personality and some sense of your individualism.

thanks again, i'm sorry if i'm not partecipating but i'm having computer's troubles.

fred, your point of wiew is interesting and also nice to read, but you know how this kind of photos are shooted: first, find a good set, second, wait for the correct person in the correct position. the rsults can be nice, yes, but photos are a different thing. anyway, we are here not to write the story, but for enjoing ourself. ciao!

It doesn't have to be just about enjoying ourselves, though it's fine if that's what some people want. I take photography a bit more seriously and am usually looking for some aspect of humanity, some humanness or human expression and emotion to explore (even when there are no humans in the pictures, which is rare for me). I thought maybe that was what you were getting at when you said you were afraid this was all graphism.

you know what, fred, for me photography is the most complete way to communicate. i felt in love with photography many years ago, and, if i had to decide to look at photos or shoot photos, sure i prefear to look at (good) photos. for me is magic this frozen moment that contains all the meaning of a scene of life, without to drive the thoughts, but suggesting to have one. and, of course, if life is not present in a photo, what is it? i regreat that in my photos very often life is pale, that's all. And, btw, this is the reason for what i went back school, stopping digital for some mounths and using analogic. Just to help myself in thinking a little more before to shoot.

I agree with Fred's first comment that this has a strong graphic element to it and with Marjolein in the excellent placement of your human subject.  I also like the high contrast level you chose.  Gives an edgy aspect to it. Always interesting to view your latest.  Best, LM.
