Here is the original file.

The picture posted for critique is a 100% crop from the full-sized original.  The only manipulation used in addition to cropping was unsharp mask.

The only manipulation used in addition to cropping [on this file] was unsharp mask.

And it was probably unnecessary.  Whatever one might say about the big Kodaks, their files were sharp.  Under the best light, they were splendid.  When things went wrong, well, they went badly awry, especially with color moiré.

I am happy to say that the Kodak DCS PRO SLR/n and the Kodak DCS PRO SLR/c were much better than the original Kodak 14n in this regard, and with regard to Kodak's heavy-handed noise reduction, but none of them kicked the noise and noise reduction problems entirely--especially not the chroma noise problem.

Kodak ceased production in 2005 and never offered another Digital Single Lens Reflex camera (DSLR) again.  It was over for Kodak as a serious contender in the realm of high quality digital photography.  Given Kodak's legacy as a true pioneer in the field of digital photography, there is something rather tragic about that.

The cameras are still out there.  They still work, and they still present a challenge.  Yet, with patience and good post processing, they can still produce extraordinary results--provided that one is willing to live with the inconveniences.

I can say two good things about the entire series: they provided a way to use Nikon lenses on a full-frame DSLR for four years before Nikon finally announced the D3 in late 2007, and they produced files that are still striking for their sharpness.

The version with the Canon mount was quite an improvement over earlier efforts, but it had no chance in the market against the smooth operation and clean output of the 11-megapixel Canon 1Ds.

The 100 % crop is nicer in my eyes than the full frame....;-)) nice composition, and try the Canon 5D mark II . Full frame great camera!

try the Canon 5D mark II

That would be a good test of the old Kodak, Pnina.  I shall have to try some kind of controlled comparison.
