This mage has a piece of life that could be interpreted and imagine in many ways. To me he is a lonely soul that lost his wife and children on 9/11 and could not go on. As a child he learn to play the guitar and for 28 years was a very succesful Family doctor and after the tragedy lives alone in a big house and during the day plays the guitar to forget....or a Gulf war vet who losted and now just play the guitar... or just a lost soul trying to make sence of life..Thank you for sharing my friend.

A beautiful candid that captures the moody ambiance of this man's sojourn into his music...  Mike

Nice moment of the man in his music. I like the light and shadow treatment that enters the viewer into the mood, Nice work Rajat.

Rajat, I think this is one of my favorites of your NOLA series so far. There is a certain softness and intimacy that very much suits this man's music, while the important details are clearly focused. I'm glad you chose to keep this in color as the warmth of the guitar and the warm facial tones enhance the intimate feeling of this and provide a nice contrast to all of the grey tones. His silvery hair catches the light wonderfully.

Hi Rajat,

A scene from life, well captured.

I know that each time Betsy and I walk by people playing music street side, we stop and offer both a "thank you" and some money to them.

Best Regards,  Mike

The moment captured, and your treatment almost makes the photo look like  something out of the middle ages... A minstrel playing his lute... It has a bit of a 'fairytalish' feeling, which works very nicely and which I quite like. I also like the expression & concentration visible on the musician's face. Although I like the way you composed the scene, I'm wondering if a square crop may further enhance the perceived intimacy of this moment....not completely sure though...A lovely photo, Rajat. best, Marjolein

Rajat, Thanks for the message and your alternate upload of this.

I quite like your upload, as I welcome seeing the guitar player a bit closer up..(my initial reaction was that he seemed to be slightly lost in the (perhaps too) elongated horizontal format, as shown above) However, whether a square crop is the best photo-composition for this, I'm still not quite sure... As I regret the fact that the coat on the LHS isn't visible anymore...( & which should preferably be part of the scene, I think)  The little black object on the lower right can be easily cropped out -- however, the position of the man in the frame is important, and shouldn't be placed too much in the middle either.... This surely is a photo worth exploring several comp/crops options -- kind of a puzzle, in a way...:-)  My thinking may have come from having seen plenty of old master paintings with guitar / lute playing musicians in them....
