stp 6 Posted March 23, 2012 Nice light (I like the shadow on the barn). I'd try to put the right edge just to the right of the two trees (one tall, one short) to the right of the barn (too late now, and I'd be thinking about a longer focal length as well -- the barn, windmill, clouds, trees, and moon have a lot more appeal than the foreground, even if some of the context would be lost -- IMO!). rekaras 0 Posted March 23, 2012 Thanks for your perceptive comment. Always a helpful suggestion comming from one such as yourself. I deliberately left the foregroud in for 2 reasons, first the red shrubbery in the lower left, I did crop a bit, and I wanted the light to blend into the shadows preceeding the barn. Currently my primary longer focal length lens is in recovery at lens hospital for the time being so I am forced to use my wide angle lenses, which have both advantages and disadvantages as you know. It probably would have been better if the field were plowed and rich earth were there instead of last seasons stubble but se la vie. Take care Stephen and thanks again, rek. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted March 23, 2012 Richard, if it were possible (I don't know what's on the left), I'd want to step into the field and swing the camera to the left until the barn was on the 1/3 line from the right edge. It's as if the barn is a person looking to the left, and having it "look into" the photo should be a consideration (all things being equal). Having the red shrubs in the lower left corner is a good idea, IMO, and if you could find a way to do that while having the barn moved to the right in the composition, I think that would be good. Of course, it all depends on what's to the left that might prevent that. Link to comment
