slavomirmisko 0 Posted March 11, 2012 One of the early mornings on dunes of Maspalomas, your opinions are welcome... Link to comment
alfbailey 1 Posted March 11, 2012 A nicely balanced landscape with great forground textures and lines. I might have been inclined to zoom in slightly just to get that rock into a lower position in the frame. But this is a delightful scene the colour contrasts work very well.Sincere ComplimentsAlf Link to comment
andregilden 0 Posted March 11, 2012 Delightful image!! Beautiful colors and tone. Maybe if your viewpoint were a little higher the horizon wouldn't be cut. I'm not sure if it would be better. Just a thought. Great image!regards. Link to comment

stp 6 Posted March 13, 2012 Another great view from the dunes. The single large rock makes a good landing spot for the eye. One wonders how it got here and how long it has been here; I can't imagine how that groove in the sand is maintained. I'd like to suggest a different crop, one that removes essentially all of the very light-blue sky at the top of the frame. This light really pulls the viewer's eye up and away from the rest of the image, and I'd rather concentrate on the lower portions. I'd crop through the dark clouds leaving just a few bits of the light sky above the sun and slightly to the left. I've done this by scrolling the image up on my monitor, and I like the result. Personally, I like to stick to standard aspect ratios, and I'd then crop a bit from the bottom until a 2:1 aspect ratio was reached. This is just one person's opinion for your consideration. Guest Guest Posted March 13, 2012 Very beautiful but strange light, no shadows due to the sun below the dunes. Best regards, Alessandro. Link to comment
pepaserrano 0 Posted March 13, 2012 Awesome composition, I like the light and color. Congratulations. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted March 13, 2012 Alessandro brings up a good point about the shadows. Have you applied HDR to this to enable the wide range of light that is present? If so, I think you've done a good job -- I like it when the digital editing is not immediately visible, and I imagine this is similar to what my High Dynamic Range eye would see if I were standing here. slavomirmisko 0 Posted March 13, 2012 thank you for comments, in the end i think would be also good idea to cut off bit from the sky as Stephen mentioned, i had id on my mind but final version i decided not to do so... not HDR but it looks like in some way, i wanted to keep it as natural as it could be... thank you again... stp 6 Posted March 14, 2012 Slavomir, HDR often does result in something that looks quite unnatural, but I've also seen it applied by photographers on this site in a way that looks completely natural. When done that way, it can be very difficult to see that HDR or any other digital manipulation was used. Others simply manually blend two different exposures. If I had done that here, I imagine I'd be blending one shot exposed for the sky with another shot exposed for the dunes. That can also be very effective in overcoming the limitations of the camera to record a wide range of brightness, and the resulting blended photograph will look much more like that which is seen by the eye.
