leo burkey 0 Posted March 9, 2012 I took this photograph some 15 to 20 years ago in the upper peninsula in Michigan. I was walking through a wooded area and spotted these berries out of the corner of my eye. I have made several prints of it and I have been happy with all of them, however, I find this rendition to be the most satisfying. Link to comment
sonneland 0 Posted March 9, 2012 leo, the depth to this image is remarkable, about as close to 3-D as you can get. like the green in far back left and also right, but those florescent green leaves i find hard to come to terms with. would really like to see image before p/p, just went and checked out your portfolio, but is not there. was plenty of gorgeous flowers, just not this one. if is not a fiddle would like to see image before p/p. leo burkey 0 Posted March 10, 2012 I always look forward to your comments and I thank you for your encouraging words. I am attaching the the original which was a scanned 35mm transparency. The transparency has a completely different look than a pure digital. Most notable is the presence of grain and a "feeling" of more depth, which you pointed out. Also, Roger, I believe properly placed blur can add to that 3D effect. Thanks for your visit Roger, it's always a pleasure! Link to comment
sonneland 0 Posted March 10, 2012 leo, thanks for the effort to put this here for me to look at, they are really two different images. i like the berries on original more as they are darker and seem richer for that. would think it had something to do with the leaves which made you decide to rework this image, in original they seem flat, and just not very interesting. but the green in p/p version is so green it almost feels radioactive, i think a compromise somewhere between the two might work. that is all of course just my humble opinion for what its worth!roger Link to comment
