I am afraid that whilst the fence and the land are interesting as subjects, the horizon so dark isn't and the clouds don't complement well a subject that isn't fully satisfying by itself. Something is missing to fill the frame and it isn't the tree in the center-left alone.

I agree with you but that is the limitation of photographic light.  I wish the oak tree stood out against the dark background it would certainly enchance the image to a certain degree.  but as a metaphor the darkness does separate us here on earth from the glory that exists in the heavens...very good comment though, I appreciate it. rek.

Another perspective - not better - just different.
