greg & verena,  lovely first up flower to greet the day with,  like both the colors and also the silky textures.  the round crease does not look natural,  looks as if you set flower in a glass and then shot down on it,  if that is what happened,  i have also had the same thing happen on single petal flowers,  seems the more fragile the flower the less time you have to take the image before creasing starts to effect the flower.  this is all of course just a guess,  am curious if am right.

we have no guests until tomorrow,  seems just wonderful to have the bay to ourselves.  will write email later in the day.

we can totally empathize with how you feel - more on that later.

The "crease" I think you are referring to is the bright ring circling the center? This is really just  a very reflective bloom and the petals turn wide open like this when the sun is bright. I didn't do anything to the petals. It's not from the top down, but held with a clothespin so that it is horizontal to the camera.

Enclosed you might be able to see that. So, depends a lot on how the light is  how much reflection will show. I have others of this one with even more of a ring.

Nice guess, tho!!

greg,  thanks for that,  this wee one you have put here to show me is just terrific.  i really like the darkness associated with image. i like  " oh so yellow " mainly because of the vividness of the color and those lovely textures.  but the small image has mood to burn,  and there is also mystery lurking around in that darkness.  for some reason these are the type of images that interest me the most.  a most relaxing and wonderful day,  was going to fire the bath up,  but to lazy to even build a fire.

big hello to verena

i also use clothespins a lot working with flowers,  have found something even better,  that being alligator jaws hooked to a flexible arm that you can move and hold any position with.  only cost a few dollars and picked them up in a stationary store,  they are used to hold notes or messages.

I very much prefer the pre-macroing image. Here I miss the end of the petals. It feels a bit claustrophobic.

Thanks, Pierre, Roger and Jose;

The small image is of the same flower, but different light and aspect- also un processed. I'll work on it when I get a chance and post it full size. Just to show how the same item can appear so different depending on how is presented.
