daniel_morelos 0 Posted March 7, 2012 I personally love this shot! Although the photographer is in a common place, he still is able to bring life to this picture. I love the light and dark values in this image, especially in the sky and the rocks below it. I think the photographer took a typical calm scenery, and turned it into something with meaning. What I get from this picture is that there might be something rough coming, like a storm. I see the jagged edges of the rocks that create a path up to the clouds in the sky. We can easily tell that that clouds are not there just for scenery, but they have a purpose. He creates an unsettle moment here with this shot, which i truly enjoy! Link to comment
stp 6 Posted March 9, 2012 As Daniel said, it may be a relatively common scene, but you've brought it to life with this great B&W conversion. The tones and exposure are right on; I think it's the relatively subdued lighting that really works for me. What conversion program did you use for this? Link to comment
timzeipekis 5 Posted March 10, 2012 I use Silver Efex from Nik software for my black and white conversions. Using the brush feature, I can work different parts of the scene independently (in layers) and get the exact look I want. It's a great program with incredible control, highly recommended. Think I just made a commercial, LOL!Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend! Link to comment
stp 6 Posted March 10, 2012 Tim, I use Silver Efex as well, although not the brushes or layers. I will definitely look into that. Thanks. Link to comment
