Dave, I didn't see or comment on the original version, but this looks pretty darn good.  I like the black background, bright colors of the flower, and the water droplets.  You have also done a very nice crop / presentation.  Bravo!

dave,  would have to say this is a big improvement,  the black also really makes image pop.  i think you have now maximized the full potential of your image.  lovely work!

Those vivid colors are most impressive against the black background.Good sharp details and those water drops really make for an excellent image.Bravo!

Hi Dave,

This is a wonderful image.

The Casio camera probably set all the functions once the zoom lens was set to 11.8mm at F/3.6.

Many of my lessons provided on PN point to the proper use of the F-stop to maximize the results in a scene. Here , the lens did provide vivid colors and very good clarity across the scene because of the combination of the lens focal length and f-stop set.

While the lens is short focal length, the DOF remained good and the details were captured onto the sensor well at closer range.

Any lens is effected by the f-stop setting that is used. Only the below average lens need to be stopped down below F/8 in order to correct the aberrations that the design did not address. However, good lens do perform better when the f-stop is moderate, like up to F/5.6, and then they become compromised as the f-stop number becomes larger.
