This is beautiful in both forms, I think that it is well ligted and there are  very nice shadows of her hair and  eyelashes The music instrument is interesting , do you know its name?I'm glad that you continue to develop the subject!

In this case I prefer the colored version.

Great shot.Very nicely composed too.I think the colour rules here due to it's fantastic tonality & light!

Pnina. thank you very much for your approval of the image. This instrument is called Tambron. It is made with long bamboo pole with several strings attached. Helmi was sometimes striking it with bow  and sometimes playing like a cello. It appears to me a period instrument. I have never seen any picture nor have heard it before. However, I am uploading another image to give you an idea of the long musical instrument.

Thanks so much for loading the version that shows the entire instrument.  I have never seen nor heard of this instrument before.  I'm happy to see what the instrument looks like, so I'm glad you have a color version, but as a photograph I prefer your B&W version.  It just seems to match the somber tone of her expression, and it appears a bit brighter and sharper.  I learn so much on this website, and this is just one more example of that!  Thanks!

B&W works for me.  I like the almost disjointed feel of the composition, as if head and hand are operating separately.

I like this the best of your musician photos and prefer this, the color version. It has a soft, classical feeling with a bit of romantic chiaroscuro which fits the subject very well. I also think the composition is very strrong.

A wonderful capture and you have introduced me to a new musical  instrument and I appreciate that. Based on the length of the bow, I wonder how it would be from an aesthetics perspective if you went with landscape mode. That might introduce other issues. Perhaps if you waited until the wrist was much closer to the tambron and keep this format - much like the photo where you show her full length. The arm there looks less `disconnected`.

My favourite of your three most recent posts.  Put me down on the side which prefers the B&W. (I have a bias toward B&W photos of people) I'll also side with those praising you for widening our horizons with this offfering. A Tambron!  Who knew?  Tony makes a valid point in suggesting a horizontal framing but in order to see everything at once may I suggest a square crop?  The only downside to my suggestion is that the artist then gets minimized.  Many compromises to chose from.  Best, LM.
