I have another larger version of the pond where I took the capture of

this Lotus, but my daughter wanted to have an enlarged version of

just the Lotus. They are one of her favorite flowers, and I have to say

mine as well. On this particular day, it was so tranquil. Warm and

humid, only the odd tiny insect skimming across the water caused

any movement. I think the Lotus Blossom is a rather 'regal'

and 'refined' flower. I recall being so delighted when I saw this one.

One of my favorite 'moments' while visiting Brookgreen Gardens.

(many thanks for your visit, sincerely, Gail)

Gail, this is a beautiful image, taken in what looks like harsh light with ample oppurtunity for flare off the water's surface- well executed.

I also like the way you handled the postwork. Only critique- I sense the symmetry is for balance, have you tried a square crop, either traditional or set on end? Not many images work well in a square format, but this one just might be an exception.

I also feel this could have a little more imapct with ~5x7 or ~ 8x10 aspect ratio, taking the bottom off just above the second set of ripples.

Kindest regards-Randall

Thankyou so much for your visit and for those very helpful suggestions. I had originally cropped this image at 10.70 x 8.149 res 240 to make a print for my daughter. I was using 11 x 8.50 Letter size paper to fit in a particular frame I wanted to use. Not having a Mat, I did the border.

But I will try what you have suggested. I moved my original posting right beside this one so you can have a look at that also. I do agree that a Square Format may look very good as well. It is great to get feedback like yours, I truly appreciate your suggestions. I'll let you know how I do with my efforts.

Thanks so much and with sincere regards, Gail

..yes the word balance describes this composition very well. Foreground and background  frame your subject very well. I also like the fact that the picture is not over saturated. It is fine example of differential focus revealing a masterful control of the camera. Compliments.

Hi Gail,

Stunning sharpness and isolation well displayed in this scene.

It is nice to see this very good lens used in such a manner, too.

Warmest Regards,  Mike

WOW!  This is awesome.  First of all, I like your presentation with the border.  This has such sharp focus, good colors, and an excellent DOF.  A stunning image, that i like.

A beautiful image with subtle colours . Yuu did well to get such a low view point showing the leaves lying flat on the water . Excellent shot ! Bill

Details aside, they're for lawyers, this is most assuredly an 'Art' photo.

A 'thing-of-beauty' preserved with an artists touch...

Astonishing post processing, excellent composition with some kind "silver" effect and reflection! Well balanced and eye catching presentation! It just EXCELLENT!

An enchanting, romantic image, Gail. I like the little ripples in the shimmering water, the reflection, the lovely bokeh. Wonderful work as always.

Bel arangement.
