Now a historic landmark, this 196-foot tower was a glass-stretching

facility at the Corning Glass Works, now Corning Inc. Using a series

of cables, glass-workers stretched molten glass vertically into long,

continuous tubes, which were then cooled and cut into lengths for

thermometers. The tower is called "Little Joe" after one of the

employees who worked in it. Comments and critiques are always
