Jorge,

She is indeed a very pretty girl with a pleasant and natural looking expression. You have focused well on her eyes. Her make-up looks very natural and age appropriate. The light hitting her hair and top (blouse) from the back looks very nice and helps to separate her from the background. The background is nicely neutral and she is well separated from it. I like the soft lighting and subtle shadows on her face.

I'll give you a few things to consider.

While her skin tone is very nice and I find it quite acceptable, you could warm it a bit. Some might consider it a little on the cool side.

More pronounced single catchlights in each eye would give more life to her eyes and therefore, to the portrait.

Her make-up does look very good. Because her top could be considered a dressed-up look, she could have gone with an evening style make-up -- not quite as subtle.

If you would turn her a little more at an angle to the camera her right arm wouldn't show in the lower left corner of the frame. This light area draws the viewer's attention away from her face.

Your subject should have more room in front of her than behind. This allows her to be facing into the picture, not out of it. You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph. By positioning the tip of her nose in the vertical center of the photograph you not only have her facing into the picture, but you also have good left and right compositional balance. The tip of her nose doesn't have to be exactly centered, but this gives you a good starting point from which to subtly adjust your composition to make it visually balanced. This little rule almost always works well.

While your top and bottom compositional balance is very good, notice the neckline of her top. The viewer's eyes will go to the “V” formed by the sides of the neckline and follow it down and out of the photograph because there is nothing there to stop them. If you would back up a little (zoom out) you could include where the "V" or neckline comes together. This would give the viewer's eyes a stopping point. Her light skin wouldn't be touching the bottom of the frame of the picture and her top would "frame" her face and help keep the viewer's eyes within the picture. Darker areas at the edges of the frame help to keep the viewer's eyes within the photograph.

Her darkish magenta colored top is not too distracting, but does draw my attention away from her face. Just be aware that more subtle (neutral) or an even darker shade of color will not be as distracting.

Nice shot,

Mark

I would have liked eye contact , apart from that it is a very good portrait of a pretty young Lady . The light is soft , maybe from an overcast sky , strong enough to show the modelling while keeping the shadows soft . Good shot . Bill

Hello Jorge, She certainly is a lovely young lady but I too wished for a little eye contact which lets us see the personality of the character a bit more, but still a fine portrait my friend. Take care.

Holger

Hi Jorge,

A fine portrait, indeed. I particularly like the natural presence of the young lady displayed.

The technical use of the lens and camera settings is spot on.

Best Regards,  Mike
