Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 21, 2012 A lovely ensemble piece. I don't know what camera you're using but the sharpness and tones tells me it's a fine instrument that's used by someone who knows how to get the best out of it - I guess kind of like the violins the musicians are playing. pnital 36 Posted February 21, 2012 Jack, It took me some years and learning till I bought the full frame Canon 5 D mark II and learned to use its advantages. You are right it is a first class camera and I enjoy the hard work I put into it to get the best of my knowledge, accumulated with the years of experiments , as well by looking at photographers work like yours, Gordon's and some others. Thanks a lot for your nice words in both of my last works.! blue-olympus 0 Posted February 21, 2012 I trust this was taken without flash and a high iso...but you wouldn't notice..it's so clear and sharp so you must have used a fairly high shutter speed....remarkable shot, well done! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 22, 2012 Thanks both of you!Keith you are right! in a concert or any other performance I don't use flash, and really use high ISO.It depends as well where I seat in the hall. I work only with Raw, here I have used ISO 1250 1/160s, and f 4, as stage lights are usually strong,I photo with a bit underexposure and adjust it later on in PP if needed. I hope it helps;-)) and thanks again. Link to comment
elportebonheur 0 Posted February 22, 2012 It's all been said above. Absolutely beautiful. Your extensive efforts were well rewarded, as it should be. Compliments Pnina! Link to comment
llgarcia 1 Posted February 22, 2012 I always envy these kind of images relating to music and the arts being an avid listener myself. Also, much as I would wish to document occasions like these sometimes as an audience, we are prohibited to use the camera.I admire the violinists caught with the bows upright in unison and the vocalists with their mouths open as if I am there myself enjoying the melody of the music.Such great photo! Regards, Pnina Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted February 23, 2012 very good. High ISO or you caughth at just the right moment. Appears that the wind instruments are playing and the violens are waiting for their que. The conductor seems to be focused at the moment on the choir. You must have managed a good seat. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 23, 2012 Lejubisa ,thanks and wellcome to PN!El thanks for your nice words and feedback.Lester, thanks for stopping by and your nice feedback. I photo this orchestra constantly and I don't use the flash, only a high Iso They are very professional and I'm glad I could photo them with the choir this time, in a very rewarding concert.Meir, thanks, the museum hall was full..my seat was relatively good.... I photograph them at rehearsals as well as at the concerts. The conductor was conducting both the orchestra and the choir. Link to comment
wolfgangarnold 142 Posted February 23, 2012 it's an amazing photo - the soft warm light on the violinists who are forming such a great visual rhythm is just perfect. The conductor in his dark suit and vertical shape (against the otherwise horizontal patterns) works well as a visual antagonist. Impressive photo - I join Lester in his envy :-)Best regards, Wolfgang Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 24, 2012 Thanks very much, I just wish the geographical distances were not so great, and I whish as well that people could fly in...;-)) as the concert was such a great one( the main part was Bach's Magnificate)It was my pleasure to invite you all ,so I'm glad my photos are creating a clue...! amalsircar 2 Posted February 26, 2012 Pnina, much has been said about the excellence of the image. I am bowing to 2 virtuosos- Bach & Pnina. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted February 28, 2012 Pnina,Wonderful sharpness and clarity of tone. The catch-light outlining the conductor punctuates the line of bows nicely. The linear structure of the ensemble pairs well with the linear sculpture in the background. I'm not sure if it is the sculpture or the camera angle but the frame seems to be running down hill from left to right. Link to comment
gsaphoto 2 Posted February 28, 2012 It not simple task with light what was available to produce such kind clarity and atmosphere. All seen perfectly well -- musicians, architectural view on background. Also, thank you for your recent comments.Grigoriy Link to comment
tonyfrench 0 Posted March 1, 2012 Pnina, the light and tones in this are really beautiful. The soft light on the structure behind the orchestra, the clarity of the musicians and the light on the conductor all are really wonderful Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted March 1, 2012 Thanks all of you I appreciate youtr nice impressionsGordon. yoi are right about the small " down hill" from LHS to the R,but the choir was very big, and I wanted to include as many of them as possible(and it is still not all of them). So I have left it as is..Thanks though for your sharp observation...;-)) Link to comment
