From my favorite perch to watch a Rainier sunrise, but the best part for me

is the deep purple cast to the foreground fog that covers Olympia (the

state capitol). This is a three-shot stitched panorama. Your comments

and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

I guess this would be even better viewed printed in its original size. I haven't seen many panoramas from medium format slides and I have not done many either. I may have commented on a similar shot of Mt. Rainier in your portfolio. The golden and magenta hues go well together. At the larger preview, I can see the wind blowing the snow at the top of the mountain. Could you post a closer look at the peak ?

Peter, thanks for stopping by.  I may indeed have posted this previously.  A number of my photos were lost, and I've reposted some of them; this may have been one.

I've attached a closer look at the top, although I reduced the highlights so the wind-blown snow/clouds would show up better.  This wind at the top of the mountain is readily apparent on some of my other Rainier photos as well.

Beautiful yellow orange color in the sky and the Halo effect of the sun rising is excellent. I especially like the clouds/fog  in the foreground and that you didn't try to lighten up the shadows too much. Pretty cool. Jim

Jim, thanks for visiting.  Sometimes there is an inverse relationship between the degree to which a photographer likes his/her photograph and the reception it seems to get from viewers.  I want to create a folder for photographs that I really like but which don't seem to connect with viewers.  This photograph will be #1 in that folder, because I absolutely love this photo.  But then, I have the experience of getting up early in the morning, driving through the thick fog, climbing up the mountain road to finally get above the fog, and then standing in the utter quiet as hints of dawn begin to light the sky and clouds around Rainier and top of the fog blanket from which I just emerged.

Foreground fog: that was a surprise to me.  Nothing like being there, I'm sure, but this is wonderful.  Thanks for sharing it with those of us stuck in less splendid scenery.
