Estuary

A shot I took a while ago near the Blaine marina. I took this shot off the

small bridge at the entrance to the marina. Let me know what you think of

the image overall. Thanks in advance.

Overall, pretty good.  Try cropping about 90% of the sky (just above the clump of trees on the right) and see what you think.  The foreground you've selected is excellent -- it makes a great bottom edge.

Hi again, Stephen.  Your comment comes at a very timely moment.  I had posted this image on my Flickr account, and a friend there suggested exactly the same thing!  So, I cropped the image to an 8x10 aspect ratio, and that got rid of the majority of the sky.  All the best, Stephen.

Paul, I think if you had a dynamite sky, it would go well here.  But it's an average sky (IMO) up against a superior landscape, so it's not going to lend strength to that landscape.  The photo is trying to do too much (sky and land) when only one of the elements (the land) is really visually appealing.  That was the basis for my suggestion.  I like the various colors in the estuary, as well as the sinuous channel that leads out to the bay.  And of course, you selected a great foreground.
