Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 15, 2012 Oh my God, I don't believe it - new work! It's no wonder you haven't posted any pictures lately with that thing chasing you. Don't stop, whatever you do. Link to comment

gordonjb 10,860 Posted February 17, 2012 The upper arch of the culvert? counterbalances the lower crest of the hill framing the tree nicely. . I have notice that tree with this sort of crazy bifurcation of twigs seems to be found only along the roadside on major highways. I see this type of growth in the trees beside the 400 highway between Toronto and Barrie. My suspicion is that all the traffic atomizes the salt slurry from the roadway and this mist settles on the buds of the trees and the resulting kill off cuases this odd growth pattern. Tanja 0 Posted February 18, 2012 Hi Gordon,Hairy tree :) It is very intriguing , to me too, how this tree develops such looks. Your guess seems pretty reasonable. Poor tree is standing there, motionless, trying to be pretty and helpful while careless bugaboos shooting salty bits and pieces on him... just the thought of it raises the hair on my head... I, highly, was sympathizing with that tree, while passing by....and still..Thank you for stopping by...always very pleased. Link to comment
